Vantaggi

Pretty good break room snacks.

Svantaggi

The CEO here is emotionally unstable, a master manipulator, and involved in every aspect of this company. Employees at every level from account managers to executives are constantly stressing about his approval, and can never get it. He's fired, "managed out", or lost every talented employee that has walked into this company with his emotional bullying and lack of true humility. You can see the way he deals with people in his compulsive and unapologetic response to every single review here on Glassdoor - the fake responses of "ah I'm sorry you had a bad experience. We're working to make things better, thanks for sharing!". That is every interaction I ever had with him to a T. Full of platitudes and fake sincerity, thanking you for sharing, and then proceeding to tell you why you are failing at your job (or even more manipulatively saying "I've failed at my job because I should have never hired you for this job in the first place" lol. Every meeting that Jake is involved in eventually turns into a group therapy session with him leading out with contrived vulnerability, and then expecting others to do the same. He uses these experiences to push his baby, Disruptive University, on employees, making it seem like if you want to be successful in business you have to engage in this type of group therapy and "self improvement" nonsense. He's somehow convinced himself that his "business success" has anything to do with all the self help books he's read, and that if everyone else did all the same things he's done they would be just as successful. Unfortunately this entire company is an extension of Jake himself. I strongly advise against anyone considering to work here. Every person I've talked to who has left has said what a relief it is to be out from under Jake's thumb, how much less stressful literally any other company is, and how glad they are to be in a normal work environment again where the company isn't treated like a Tony Robbins seminar.

I'm a work in progress, and so is Disruptive. I'm building something with people I love that I believe matters more than just making money. I'm grateful for the people who want to build it with me, and grateful for the people who realize it isn't for them. If we ran into each other I'd want to give you a hug, hear you out, and learn from your experience. I know who I am, so I don't need to defend myself here. I just have empathy for what you're carrying. Wishing you well.

Vantaggi

As a newer employee at Disruptive, I've felt really welcomed and supported by my team, which has been nice. It’s definitely a fast paced environment, but that’s pretty typical in the agency world and not something I see as a negative. One thing I appreciate is that Disruptive takes the time to understand the “why” behind client goals which makes the work feel more meaningful. It feels like there is a real effort to provide the right resources and support to succeed. I’ve also found the DU courses to be valuable from what I know about them so far.

Svantaggi

None that I have experienced so far

Glad your first few months here have been good. Caring about the why behind client goals is a big part of how we try to operate, and I'm glad that's coming through. Hope your experience keeps getting better from here.

Vantaggi

- Fully remote with the option for office use for locals - Pretty good work life balance - Love the people on my team - Caring committee budget to fund community give-back projects - Money games - A lot of genuinely great clients

Svantaggi

- It can be high pressure to be responsible to drive results for clients and their business growth - In order to achieve career and salary growth, you typically have to find a way to balance work across 20+ accounts while also doing great work - There are things on the administrative/corporate owned side of things creating direct barriers to keeping clients happy

The advice landed. Future vision is where I tend to live, and "more tactical, more transparent" is a fair push. I'll take it. The cons you named are real too. Pressure to drive client results across a heavy book of business is part of the work here, and the administrative friction is something we're working on. None of it is invisible to me. Grateful you're here and grateful you took the time to write this.
