Where do I start? The building I worked in was run down. The bathroom was filled with garbage, and the lock was broken so that I required a knife to unjam it. The water fountains were covered in mold, paint, and garbage, leaving me to spend money on bottled water to just stay hydrated (This was a location in Nebraska). As for the management, it was poor. I was never told a schedule, and instead had to call every day to find out if I was even coming in the next day, and that runs up a nice phone bill. On top of this, I was expected to train but was never told how long I would be training. The manager also didn't seem to read my application, as I put down that I could not work Saturdays or Sundays, yet they tried to schedule me for them when I called Friday. I was not paid. I went and worked 24 hours (training), and was told I'd be paid on Friday in the hiring packet. Friday came, my bank account was DRY (except for the money I had in it prior). When I called to ask about the pay, the manager took several minutes to figure out what was the issue (while bickering/gabbing with someone the entire time), and then told me their systems were backed up and that I'd get paid the following week. That week has not come yet, so I have no idea if I will be receiving my pay. "Training". I put quotes for a reason. I was told to come in for training (never given a time frame of how many days, they just expected me to come in). The manager got me a cart full of smashed boxes, and told me to stock the shelves by matching the labels, and then walked away. I believe the definition of "training" is as followed: 'the action of teaching a person or animal a particular skill or type of behavior.' I received no teaching. I was thrown into the small, cramped isles to stock the shelves with no direction on what to do. Their stock is dreadful. The carts were filled with stuff not even related to each other. Dog food with toys, toys with canned goods, beauty products with gardening supplies, Christmas stuff with Halloween candy. On top of this, a majority of their products had been smashed/dented due to poor storage. There was a case where I lifted a box of canned goods off of a smashed box of M&Ms, with the packages torn open. With the lack of training, I had no idea what to do with the damaged goods, so I left them on my cart, but when I asked, the manager told me to "finish putting the food on the shelves", so I was basically required to put dented cans and smashed bread onto the shelf. During "training" they sent me to a different location. Something that I had never heard a company doing to their trainees. I had applied to a job in a town close by, but due to it still being put up and opened, I was sent to a location further away. To make matters worse, they then transferred me to a location further away than the one I was already sent to. If that if that wasn't bad enough, when I asked for directions the manager basically expected me to know where it was and hardly gave directions. The only way they could explain it was by saying it was near another location that I was not familiar with (thanks Google Maps).
