Vantaggi

- Subject matter of job is interesting and was a good "foot in the door" to the solar industry.

Svantaggi

- Management was fear-based. Competition was valued over team work. - No training for new employees. - Employee feedback is not valued or heard, especially if you are a woman or minority. Management took feedback personally. - All meetings were a conspicuous demonstration of "superiority." Many conversations were inappropriate for a workplace. - Work life balance was not encouraged but rather was long hours and working on the weekends. - Management would throw subordinates under bus or blame others for errors or issues. - Extremely high volume of workload; most of which was busy work and not necessary for the day-to-day solar operations/asset management. - Management refused third-party specialists or organizations; as a result all tools, databases and operations were created in-house and were not functional, contained incorrect calculations and inefficient. - No internal growth opportunities. "Growth opportunities" for junior staff were demotions to different departments. - HR was blatantly rude, unprofessional, unhelpful and self-serving of company interests.

Vantaggi

Real opportunities to grow into more technical roles (Control Center Operator → Systems Engineer paths exist and aren't just on paper). You get hands-on experience with industrial systems most people only read about — OSI PI, SCADA, OMS integrations, cloud telemetry — which is hard to get elsewhere. Management generally supports continued education and certifications.

Svantaggi

Decisions move slowly. Getting tooling, software, or process changes approved often involves multiple layers, including approvals that flow up to the French parent company. Procurement and IT requests can take weeks for things that would take a day at a smaller company. Some legacy systems and processes haven't been modernized — you'll find yourself working around quirks instead of fixing them.
