No matter how efficient I was, my failure to meet my manager's unrealistic expectations (or when I succeeded, it was because I stayed super late) always made it seem like I wasn't working hard enough Manager was obviously stressed out all the time, which rubbed off on employees - she'd answer emails outside of work time (even at 3 am) and expect us to be able to keep up
