Really just a production studio. Would like to be more, but lack the skill sets and culture. People with more high-level experience are usually driven out or leave because existing people are dangerously territorial and insecure and lack the skills and relationship with clients to do more than take orders.They are a vendor rather than a partner or consultant--so more like a studio than an agency that people come to because they need help reaching business goals. Not a place for mid-career or senior people from agency or corporate backgrounds who want to do great work, outside of design. Even interactive people get frustrated because clients don't take recommendations seriously and projects wind up being sub-par, again because EPIC is a vendor instead of an agency clients look to for insights and consultative help. Many younger employees are also looking on the QT. But nobody can speak up about things. You have to drink the Kool Aid and say how fantastic it is or they throw you under the bus. Not a place to suggest things be done any differently.

EPIC provides some nice employee benefits – optional remote work two days per week and unlimited PTO among them. Those who work in the lower parts of the organization are mostly hard-working and very easy to get along with, both professionally as co-workers and socially as friends.

The organizational chart is very top heavy. Communication from leadership is severely lacking following the former CEO stepping back in the transition to retirement. There isn't a clear vision for the future of the company, aside from corporate buzzwords without an affirmative action plan to ensure all employees can be confident in their futures with the company. Career growth in some departments is non-existent. No clear action plan is set up, nor are measurable goals agreed upon in reviews to provide for a clear path for promotion and growth. The keyword for a long time was velocity, work hard and keep the foot on the gas. But oftentimes the silos of department work couldn't be blended for the benefit of the client. Meanwhile, work within departments doesn't seem to balance out too often; some are very busy while others are looking for work.
