Vantaggi
I worked at EDO (formerly EDN or Earth Day Network) for 16+ years. In that time, I learned a great deal and am grateful for the opportunities I had there. As a small organization, you end up getting involved in a lot of different projects which allows you to exceed your job description which can make you more marketable in the long run. It's amazing what such a small organization can be capable of achieving vs. the larger environmental NGOs in the same space. It's not easy and the leadership deserves recognition for their ability to not only fundraise over the years but to keep the organization relevant in the media.
Svantaggi
EDO really looks for people who are self-starters. They depend on your experience and expertise and what you can bring to the table. For some people this can prove to be difficult if they come from organizations where they are used to established job roles and being told what to do most of the time. EDO is looking for you to "own" a program and be proactive. Sure, the leadership will step in from time to time but they're not micromanaging.
