Vantaggi

Ability to get involved and gain experience beyond one's title, good work-life balance, nice office and well-stocked kitchen, employee trip after each fundraise.

Svantaggi

A terrible culture perpetuated from the very top, massive politics and favoritism, a facade of success to help with LP fundraising while many employees have quit, significantly below-market pay, minimal maternity leave, a powerless and ignored HR organization, a frustrated and depressed team. Speak to former employees before joining this firm.

Vantaggi

Edison is revolutionizing the growth equity space and it’s exciting to be part of a team where my role truly feels like I’m making an impact daily. I’ve had the opportunity to learn from exceptionally knowledgeable partners, network with varying levels of leadership across our portfolio, and attend fun events like our annual meeting and CEO Summit. My voice feels heard and I’m excited to be in a role surrounded by people who care to help me grow. I’ll definitely be at Edison for the foreseeable future.

Svantaggi

The workload gets pretty heavy during event seasons but that’s pretty typical to the marketing industry. Overall, no major cons to report.

Vantaggi

Staff below partner level are friendly, helpful and want to just make the best of their situation.

Svantaggi

All Partners are completely out of touch with the real world. They are so self-absorbed and entitled that they don't recognize how pompous their comments are when they attempt to act like they care about the lives of staff members below Partner. They don't actually care about the lives of staff members because when something real happens- like dealing with a major health issue during pregnancy, needing to switch to part-time to care for child's health issues, or the death of a parent- they disregard and verbally express their "disappointment" in that staff member needing time to go to doctors, manage family needs, or, at a bare minimum, grieve. They lack humility, empathy, kindness, compassion, or basic understanding of life experiences. They lack trust in the staff below Partner and do not give them the ability to work autonomously. Two of them, specifically, are such micromanagers, it's hard to see them having time to get their own work done with how much time they worry about the work of other people. The investment packages are a joke- requiring 10 years of employment before you're fully vested in their funds. Meanwhile, they'll show you the door if you express any criticism for how things are done, or provide guidance for how things can be improved. In summary, as a whole, they are toxic. Do yourself a favor and work anywhere else.

Dear Proceed With Caution, I am sorry to hear that your tenure with Edison was as negative as you describe. Our team members’ sentiments—critical or positive—are important to us and we can learn from them. We wish we better understood your frustration prior to departure so that we could have taken appropriate action to remedy it. Edison’s unlimited PTO policy is intended to give our team time away from work when needed, regardless of the reason. The experiences you describe run counter to our core values of trust, accountability, commitment, and transparency, this is unacceptable. We will do better in the future. Your comment about investment package seems to relate to carry (i.e., long-term incentive compensation) vesting. Edison’s philosophy on this important incentive is to share it with all team members. We believe everyone contributes and, therefore, everyone should have the opportunity to benefit from our success. Everyone at Edison is under the same vesting schedule. Finally, I would welcome the opportunity to learn more about your experiences to learn from them and improve. If you would like to speak with me, please send me an email and I will gladly call at your convenience. Sincerely, Chris Sugden
