This is a chaotic and unstable organization. The resulting frustration from leadership responsible for its construction will be directed at employees from their first day of employment. The screamed intimidation, overt threats, and severely unethical conduct by leadership, as mentioned by other posters here, are sadly all fully accurate if not understated. Some examples of "chaos": office phone service disconnected due to delinquent invoices, direct deposit reversed due to insufficient funds in the payroll account, and health and work compensation insurance policies canceled because invoices did not get paid. All these problems existed, existed clearly, and were never addressed. Some examples of "unstable": employee turnover the likes of which you did not think could exist, even the most basic of corporate policies existing only in someone's head, job candidates appearing for interviews for positions that had been filled or canceled, and instances of employees being dismissed, and then rehired. It was weird. These are not gripes typical of employment in this industry, like "overworked but underpaid" or "the work is boring". Working all day every day of the week during proposal efforts was common, and it would be up to you to explain to your clients why their projects had halted. Making a peep to oh, I don't know, have some personal time here and there would be met with shrieks accusing you of not being part of the team and reassuring you of how stupid and easily replaced you are. The company won proposals through its small business status. For a lot of bids, one could say that was its only qualification. Shady dealings with 401k, paychecks/direct deposit, medical insurance premiums, and time cards were regular. "Unprofessional" would seriously only scratch the surface. In conclusion: Stay away. If you are an individual seeking to make a career of environmental work, I care about you and do not want anything bad to happen to you. Stay away.
