I worked at Ensinger for almost 3 years, nothing positive to say.

Where to start? When I started at Ensinger I felt extremely unwelcome. I spent the first 3 weeks scanning and shredding paperwork that was 10+ years old. When I was eventually brought to my desk, the training I received from my colleague was very poor, she was rude and unhelpful and on times I was scared to ask her for help. My two female colleagues were very clicky and on a few occasions I caught them talking about me. I was a quiet individual and they were always pointing out to me how quiet I was and demanding to know why I wasn’t getting involved in their discussions. I lacked a lot of confidence because of their attitude towards me. The first few months were hell, it got to a point I was crying in the car on the way to work. On one occasion, both of my female colleagues went to lunch and I went on their computers and found that they had been emailing about me, even my own Manager had been involved in the emails and he too had been saying horrible things about me. When I confronted him about the emails he insisted they were about someone else in the company. My Manager was immature, had poor leadership skills and lacked respect. My colleague from another department had left the company and wrote a status on Facebook saying that she was glad to leave Ensinger and was looking forward to her new job, that’s where myself and a few of my colleagues had responded to the status with something along the lines of: “lucky you, good luck for the future.” But when I went to work the following day, I was summoned to the Operational Manager’s office, somebody had taken a screenshot of my comment on Facebook, printed it off on paper and had shown it to the Operational Manager. I was given a verbal warning for apparently slagging off Ensinger on Facebook. However, looking back now I wish I had stood up for myself and why wasn’t my other colleagues pulled in for a chat for their comments on Facebook? I felt targeted. My Manager was always away from his desk, chatting in other departments and generally acting like a clown. I have never met a Manager like him before, it was shocking. In my last year at Ensinger I had covered for a colleague who had been on maternity leave (I had very little training before she left but I was eager to prove myself). I quickly picked up the role and I managed to do her job successfully, which I’m sure really annoyed my Manager. He viewed me as the weak administrative person in the company. I didn’t once get a thank you for covering her work for a year. In my one-to-one meeting with my Manager I asked to do qualifications, however I was told I would never be able to progress in the company, my talents lied in administration only. I was devastated. At the time I was only 23 and hearing this from my Manager I felt worthless. I felt like I had wasted a year of working hard and trying to prove myself. Despite proving I could do my colleague’s job (who was on double my wage and had a better title) I was shown no respect. At this point I had enough of the abuse so I finally went for a job interview elsewhere and got offered the job. My Manager was delighted when I handed in my notice. On my last day of work he called in sick and to be honest it was a blessing that I didn’t have to see his face on my last day at the hell hole called Ensinger. Looking back now, I am shocked that I stayed at the company for almost 3 years.

Job performance is not valued or respected. Raise are all standard. Company is stuck in 1990’s thinking.
