Staff are heavily overworked, crunched, and expected to take on more work despite being overworked. Typically, 15 days of work would be assigned per 10 day sprint, with extremes reaching 20 days per 10 day sprint. The CEO and COO are guilty of regularly misleading and lying to staff regarding company direction, opportunities, pay, and promotion. Design team recently got job descriptions, 7 months after it was first raised that there were no descriptions. The job description was for junior designers, and didn't match the work we were doing. Junior designers (including myself) took on creative director and lead designer roles with no acknowledgement or appreciation. CEO and COO gave themselves promotions in the same meeting they announced redundancies. CEO, COO, and owner are clueless about the game industry, and are constantly grabbing at trigger words in the trending space of the industry to try to make money. Issues raised are assured to be fixed, but never are. Favouritism is rife. Favourites are not based on performance, but typically on mutual arrogance. Was given an insulting pay rise which I was told would be backdated to January (which is when it was initially meant to be), however, it wasn't backdated. On raising the low pay rise with the COO I was told it was as much as they could afford, however, found out that same day people had received £5,000+ pay rises. The company owner pushes his own poor ideas for games and takes no responsibility when they fail.

By far the worst place I’ve ever worked. I was left with severe workplace PTSD due to the psychological and emotional abuse. The toxicity here runs so deep that it’s impossible to change because it comes directly from the top and everyone gets poisoned. So much bullying, manipulation, sexism, racism and general unprofessional behavior among leadership, which trickles down and creates the most hostile environment where you can’t trust anyone, not even your own team mates. Directors talk badly about each other behind each others backs and complain about each other (and other team members) to their direct reports trying to get any new joiners to choose a side. People will stab each other in the back at any given time. You constantly have to be on edge and never feel like you can relax and just get on with work. Someone’s always working their own agenda. Middle aged white male leadership hiring their other white middle aged male friends as well as people without any experience or competence for very senior positions, which has a huge negative impact across the entire company. Men are generally favored and there were white middle aged male contractors who bully women without any consequence despite leadership being fully aware of the issue. So many people being insanely overworked to the point where both their mental and physical wellbeing was in jeopardy. Yet no support was given and no changes were made. Instead you were “rewarded” with more work. Lastly, below market compensation for anyone who’s not c-suite or a director, and no benefits whatsoever besides a free lunch once a month. If you value your mental and physical health then avoid this company at all costs!
