Vantaggi
The pros of working with ESS would be definitely be the benefits they offer. They offer accumulating PTO which you can start using as soon as you get hired. Great 4O1k, dental, vision, and life insurance. Medical is on the high side but the coverage it self is good. If your lucky you can get a live on site position. Not all the sites have apartments for the manager but most do. Free rent and utilities if you get to live on site however they will dock your pay 2.00 or more an hour if they give you an apartment.
Svantaggi
Like I said in the title the way you feel about this job will depend a lot on the location. Sites with an onsite manager are usually better but that means you will have to play cop 24/7. Some sites are in really bad neighborhoods. You will find your self in constant battles with un desirable tenants that try to live in the storage units. Evictions processes are long and stressful especially in California. You will end up paying a lot of people off to get out of your facility. The company refuses to invest money in security even though they have the resources which has never made a whole lot of since to me. Why wouldn't we do everything possible to keep our tenant's and their belonging's safe? How bad could it really hurt the bottom line to invest in security guards and decent camera systems??? If your lucky enough to work at a site out in the sticks some where with out a whole lot of come and go traffic your job will be wonderful. Inner city areas not so much. And you better hope and pray you like your manager or assistant manager because that is the only other person you will work with. So if you guys don't see eye to eye its extremely uncomfortable and basically your word against theirs if you have to address the problem with management.
