Vantaggi
I am convinced our technology will change the world. Management is highly accessible, always looking to invest in employees and equip them to grow and be successful, and consistently good about recognizing and praising great work where credit is due. Growth opportunities are huge, on a personal, professional, and company level. Founders have each run multiple successful startups before, and it is clear that they are doing this because they love it, not because they have anything to prove to anyone or personal issues to sort out (compare to all the hip new app startups run by frat boys with everything to prove...). They bring a wonderful sense of calm and clarity to the often chaotic startup atmosphere. A+ coworkers, small company "family" feel, great office space, fun team events, work with people you'd actually enjoy grabbing dinner and a beer with after work. Exciting deadlines and milestones, team knows how to pull things together to deliver. Some of the most delicious, healthy, and wholesome catered lunches I've ever had. Expected to self-manage (could be pro or con depending on what you like), people won't hand-hold you and walk you through the details. Motivated by social benefit as well as profit opportunities, you can feel good about the work you do here and the place it will have in society.
Svantaggi
Minor things, but worth mentioning.
Office is in Milpitas pretty close to the dump, outdoor smells typically range from funky to terrible (indoor air smells great, it's just a nuisance walking to/from your car). To get anywhere interesting you have to drive pretty far, office is not very accessible by bike or public transit.
Typical startup concerns, though I like to think we do better here than many other startups. Occasional long hours to meet deadlines (usually followed by some kind of party to celebrate success and de-stress though!) If you have to choose between doing something perfectly and meeting a deadline, you have to meet the deadline, and over time these decisions lead to a more painful cleanup and maintenance investment down the road. Despite our relatively small size, sometimes information sharing isn't done particularly well or in a timely way, we are growing fast and actively figuring out how to make sure all the relevant people stay included in the loops they need to be in without spamming people with meeting invites.
