Vantaggi

Lets you dream big. - Please Please Please take the time to read the Cons.

Svantaggi

Forgive me for the typos ahead of time for this. I am writing this from a phone and with limited time. I have been an agent for years, a successful agent who has won a couple of awards. I would never do this program again. Never. You will not make money for 5-7 years. You will make money but it will go right to paying for the lack of benefits, (Health Dental 401k). It will go to the overhead of an OFFICE BUILDING, STAFF SALARIES, paying for Agency Marketing which is how Farmers brands themselves AS A COMPANY. You will pay a ton for leads, for errors and omissions insurance, paying back the company when clients cancel policies and other services such as driving to client homes ect. They will not go into the details of these costs until after you buy a book! You will never see honest numbers from an average agent. I promise you this. I am trying to stop you from suffering like I had to. A lot of people join out of desperation. Don't let this be you! They will offer you a loan which you payback and will try to convince you that it is a source of income. It is not income. It is a LOAN even if it is called a supplemental income! You do not own your book. READ THE CONTRACT THEY GIVE YOU before you start. You will deal with angry clients and the stigma of being an evil insurance agent who represents a corrupt industry. This stigma is real and it will apply to you and the way you are seen. They run these programs to get you to sell insurance products to your trusting family and friends, then once you have sold to the people close to you there is little incentive for the company to keep you around. I am being as honest as I can be. I made this mistake and am in far too deep in debt to get out. Please Please PLEASE! - BE careful with what people promise you. Promises and guarantees are not contracts. An example of this "promise" can be seen when you will be told how you can "Take time off" whenever you want. This is a true statement but they will not tell you how when you take time off, you will loose clients that can't get ahold of you. You will not be getting paid because you will not be selling. "Time off" becomes extremely expensive and outright a threat of bankruptcy. For the people right out of college; this is a real life lesson that I was too blind to see myself. Be realistic with your skills so that you do not make a grave mistake. Not all recruiters want to help YOU. From an honest guy looking to get into an honest company and career.

Vantaggi

Work from home, make your own hours, fun claim types, starts off with great PTO allotment and you have access to all your hours from the moment you start with an extra week after five years

Svantaggi

Good luck with your diaries if you use the PTO. You will come back with overdue items. The way they have their PTO backup system setup is two backup people for the whole department. There is too much work for them so they don't get to much while you are out. Usually voicemails. You can' schedule anything for while you are gone, all your claims have to wait for you to return. The amount of new claims a week has drastically increased and it isn't sustainable. They do expect you to work more than your 40 hours or recommend that you find a different job that isn't a salary position, PTO calendars are always red with blackout dates. Supervisors and the manager don't listen to actionable items presented to make the department better. The attrition is bad, but they continue to tell us we are fully staffed because our diaries aren't that bad yet. Adjusters are dropping like flies but won't hire anymore. Not sure if that comes from senior leadership or direct leadership. Ever since Jeff Dailey left, we are just numbers. No one cares about us anymore and it is evident.
