Vantaggi
-Farmigo is a company based around the concept of providing the freshest and healthiest food to customers in a community supported environment. -Passionate team members who want to change the way food is sourced and delivered to customers. -Team member discount on all products. -Free team lunch once a week
Svantaggi
-Flawed business model. If you order from Farmigo you must pick up your groceries from a community organized site. The quality of organizers at each site varies greatly which ultimately ends up in customers missing items or having a inconsistent experience. -Dishonest advertising. When Farmigo does not receive enough items for orders, they just buy the missing items directly from high end grocery stores. So you thought you were supporting local farms, but you're really just supporting big business. -Executive leadership provides a false sense of transparency. The CEO is known to spin information in order to paint a false picture of business progress. -You are provided with unlimited PTO, but only certain team members are actually able to take it. If you work in operations you will never be able to take a true vacation. You will always be a phone call or email away from having to work when you should be enjoying your vacation. -The pay is way below market for the amount of work that employees are asked to manage. If you ask for a raise they will try to give you more equity, which is worthless. -Farmigo prides itself on being a tech company, but the tech solutions that are implemented are rudimentary at best and take a long time to complete. -Like most startups, the majority of the team members are very young and lack any real business experience. Some team members are more concerned about discussing politics on the company instant messenger, than they are about getting real work done. The majority of team members do not add much value to the overall business. This is due to the CEO refusing to hire leaders with enough experience because they cost too much. -Warehouse team members are paid an unlivable wage. $12/hr is not sustainable in places like New York and San Francisco. The company is a certified B Corp, but does not practice the philosophy of providing a sustainable wage to its warehouse team members. -Company does not provide senior management with a credit card, but expects you to make purchases for the business. To date I have put more than $18,000 on my own credit card to keep the business afloat. -If you do not work out of company HQ in New York, you will not have the opportunity to advance within the company. -Team members are hired based on company culture/fit instead of their professional experience. While this hiring model makes sense if you have the time and mentors in place to develop these hires, it is not a realistic approach in the fast paced environment of a startup like Farmigo. -CEO has a very difficult time leading the team. He practices the idea of managing up so that he can become a better CEO. What is needed is a CEO who can manage the team so they can accomplish their business objectives. Team members should not be utilized as career coaches for the CEO.
