Vantaggi
Get paid to work out. I would never get in as good as shape as quickly on my own. It is hard to get used to the physical aspect. Very hard. I was lucky to get proper training on how to load a truck. Pay is okay, will get better with raises in time. Pros: - Decent training (for me anyway) - Benefits for part time employees - Generally get to work alone but you are still part of a team and the faster everyone goes, the faster you can all go home - Get paid to work out - Most people seem to be there to work, not complain about heavy packages or complain about the company - Appear to be a lot of opportunities if you "do your time" The ratings on here say a lot. FedEx has a higher rating than any company I have ever come across in the field I went to school for. I may be doing grunt work but I'm way happier than at my previous job, despite the drastic pay cut. Just manage your expectations.

Unfortunately, some people can't handle the bare minimum of thinking this job requires. And management does not care (isn't that the case everywhere though?). There are rules, and they are reiterated now and then (no ICs in the belly, no hazmats in the belly or not right side up, don't put heavy boxes on light boxes) but even management doesn't follow them. When a truck isn't loaded properly it makes everybody mad and makes unloading take longer. Such is the cycle. They pay me enough to do my job, but not enough to care. I don't care if some box is smashed, or if a heavy box labeled fragile goes flying to the ground from the rollers. Not my problem. But for some reason I do care about people being able to do their job efficiently and safely, so I'll keep loading they way I was trained. The interviewer and interview were terrible. Easy, but limited and I encourage people to be more assertive during the interview. I think it's just to see if you can show up on time for something. For the interviewer, ask me why I want this job, maybe about other skills in case you could use me elsewhere, ask me when I am available and what shifts I prefer, and tell me which shifts are available and ask which ones I would be willing to work.
