Mediocre to bad pay. Upper management is outdated and out of touch. The general staff is expected to take as much verbal abuse as a member decides to throw at us. Up to and including racist remarks, yelling, cursing, banging out the windows, etc. There is a severe lack of communication and consistency between departments. They actively discourage any individuality with a very out of touch work culture. They don't care about their employees in terms of morale or even physical safety. Examples: An employee was fired for taking a picture of a mostly empty lobby and posting online about why it wasn't good that we were called in during treacherous weather. The next day an email went out company wide saying that if we didn't like their policies we shouldn't let the door hit us on the way out. During the height of Covid they did not ever enforce mask wearing for members at all. I asked the manager why. She said "The company learned that there was no legal enforcement, so they don't want to enforce it". So the fear of a fine was greater than their concern for employee health. Recently we had a Winter where we had several snow storms that created truly treacherous roads. While all the businesses around us were sending people home, we were forced to stay until long after driving was dangerous.
