Vantaggi
Always paid on time, great lower-level manager.
Svantaggi
Employees are not valued, thousands are facing termination or forced relocation so leadership can go back to old-school campuses. It is obviously why they’re doing this- leadership isn’t technically savvy and just doesn’t understand how modern collaboration works, it’s very much an old bankers buddy system where they trust nobody and the only way to seal a deal is with a handshake and a contract through legal. Technology is a horror, computers are locked down and regimented, it’s almost impossible to be a productive developer without constantly having to hack around the software deployed on workstations. Software includes monitoring software (Sapience), encrypted traffic inspection (BlueCoat), remote access tools that operate like keyloggers and so forth. Good luck if you need to build a Docker container or install anything outside the list of approved apps (which is always years old). The biggest hurdle has been brain drain as the majority of talented engineers have walked away and been replaced with a vast and rapidly changing crew of offshore personnel. Small changes take months, go through a dozen approval steps and then finally get rolled-out to production. There is no vision on building the next thing, it’s more reactionary event resolution. Customers are also not happy with Fiserv, the software is a hodgepodge of acquired companies where the good elements were destroyed as they were assimilated and then run into the ground. The products work very disjointed and it’s like dealing with dozens of micro companies under one logo. This company feels like it would crash to the ground, but they have banks in a position where the literally can’t leave, so they continue to sign enterprise deals for substandard software which this company has no chance of resolving, and maybe no care to.
