Vantaggi
I would say none at all
Svantaggi
Easier to do a list: 1. NEPOTISM - Look around and see that this place is headed by friends and family of the founders. Close family friend? Hired. Former colleagues? Hired. Wife? Hired. Oh there goes meritocracy, into the rubbish bin just like their absolutely horrid coffee and food. Pls sucker up to the founders before joining cos that's the name of the game here. 2. IMPOSTERS AND INCOMPETENCY - Again, none of the heads are worthy of their positions. Not a single one. Esp the SG MD - thoroughly clueless and frankly an intern can do a better job than him. Incoherent thinking, no strategy to speak of, absolute simpleton. No wonder the market is doing as bad as him. Again, evidence of horrid hiring. I reckon there isn't anywhere else which would even vaguely consider him for a job hence he is sticking around. A founder who knows any better will fire him in an instant. New heads they hired are pretty much as bad - a lot of chest thumping, loud voices, typing in CAPS but nothing done. All the "oh we went through 100s of resumes before settling on him" is just BS when that person turned out to be a close family friend. I guess when you are close to the founders' ears, you can whisper sweet nothings and get whatever you want - favors, approvals, budgets, anything. Nepotism at its best. Perhaps get a tattoo of the company on your arm too, that's so disgustedly cliche but hey who's gonna doubt your loyalty from then on eh? Juvenile. 3. MISSING, UNINSPIRING FOUNDERS - Bunch of kids who don't know how to run a company. Period. Hardly seen working the ground except hanging out with their pets. The company pretty much runs itself without them actually. Zero motivation skills, zero people skills. I don't need founders if all they do is to keep the lights on, ja? They should be replaced ASAP. 4. ZERO TRANSPARENCY - Company hopped on the layoff bandwagon and conducted brutal layoffs at end 2022. Needless to say, it was HORRIDLY carried out. No indication of it coming, founders kept mentioning company is doing ok financially but it came anyway. It's hard to believe them anymore when the lies come one too many. Comms of the layoffs were all over the place - you can't even get your act together for this? Those left behind don't even know who were let go cos the list of leavers was confidential (SERIOUSLY?). This could be the company's extinction event and perhaps good too, since it exposes the incompetency of the mgmt. Besides the layoffs, no one really knows how the company is doing or anything really because there are no periodic townhalls. Again, it's like the company is running itself. No direction, no updates, no nothing from the two dear founders. Where are you? 5. HIDING BEHIND THE 'STARTUP' LABEL - Anything and everything is attributed to "oh we are still a startup". Such immature thinking will keep you as a startup forever and eventually kill you. This is thrown around so much I cringe whenever I hear it. But on hindsight it's true, this company does not deserve to live for long with its lack of leadership. It's really hard to imagine the day when it IPO or exits. Really hard. As the pun goes, it will be gone in a flash. 6. NO VALUE PROPOSITION - No one in the company really knows what is the sell of the company. NONE. From the founders, to the Head of Marketing, to the newly hired intern told to take over a full-timer's job. a) Is it the coffee or low price? Nope tastes like crap, watered down and leaves a bad aftertaste. Plus it comes with a horrid barista experience. Seriously not worth your money. b) Is it the 'tech-enabled' biz model? None to speak of besides ordering through an app that is buggy as hell and has no draw whatsoever. Why would someone keep your app just to order bad coffee through it? c) Is it the superior app experience? Definitely not. All the hot air talk about how the app will be woven into your daily life and be indispensable remains a pipe dream. No hook to get return buys, a pathetic loyalty program which an off-the-shelf solution can do better, a backend that is held by paper and glue. Funnily loud voiced folks want to compare against Starbucks but guess they are great at lying to themselves. And trust me when I say nothing will improve cos they just let go everyone working on these. All that's left are talking heads (literally) who direct and do none of the work. 7. MONEY - Salaries are pretty crappy. Read the other reviews here for more insights. Don't ever believe another founder who promises bonuses are at the next round of funding as I was doped into believing so, over here. I don't see anyone staying long in this company or see any value in joining this place. Unless you are a HOD.
