There's a profound gap between the company's lauded diversity initiatives and the actual experiences of its employees. A culture of toxic positivity masks a significant issue of burnout, where an unrelenting work environment leaves little room for genuine inclusivity or employee well-being. A critical issue within the company is the apparent nepotism affecting various aspects of its operations. This practice raises concerns about fairness and impartiality in decisions and opportunities within the company, impacting the overall work environment and employee morale. Moreover, the company's approach to employee dismissals often seems erratic and lacks transparency, contributing to a general sense of insecurity and disregard for mental well-being. The casual manner in which significant employment decisions are handled is troubling, and the informal term used among employees to describe the sudden departure of their colleagues reflects a deeper cultural issue. The company's efforts in diversity and inclusivity are also hindered by a rigid work culture that fails to consider the diverse needs or working styles of all employees, including those who are neurodiverse. This lack of accommodation exacerbates the burnout problem and contradicts the claimed commitment to inclusivity.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and concerns. First and foremost, I’m deeply saddened to hear your comments and thank you for the opportunity to publicly address the issues you’ve raised. I’m heartened to hear your comments about working with the ‘loveliest group of colleagues you’ve ever had the pleasure to work alongside’. Creating this support and camaraderie amongst each other is critical to our Flash Pack culture and our values of humility and respect. We are a very high-growth startup and our environment isn’t one in which everyone can flourish but we work hard to ensure we give everyone the best chance possible - demonstrated by the fact that it takes us on average 8 months to make the decision to release someone and only once we feel we have exhausted all avenues. In the case of a recent dismissal, no neurodiversity challenge was declared but we extended the employee’s 6 month probation, set up a Performance Improvement Plan and only when the employee failed to improve made the decision to release them - offering 9 times the notice period they were contractually entitled to and access to unlimited therapy. However, the experience of being released from a company is understandably devastating no matter the conditions and I’m sorry you feel hurt. We grew our team over 100% last year and unfortunately we will make a few mistakes when hiring at speed. These dismissals or ‘deactivations’ may feel like a shock if you have never worked for a high growth startup or for companies that tolerate underperformance. I would like to point out that being from a diverse background does not entitle an employee to special treatment. In the case of neuro-diversity we make as many workplace adjustments as possible to support the person in their role. I’m proud to say there are a number of individuals with neurodiversity who are thriving at Flash Pack. Toxic Positivity, burnout and lack of progression: Our recent independently verified Flexa score does not reflect your sentiments: - 77% of staff recently said they have work-life balance which is an incredible achievement for a high-growth company. Where we have identified a small number of people struggling with their workload we have supported them to re-prioritise. - 96% of staff said they had complete autonomy over getting their work done - 93% said they felt flexible working is part of the culture at Flash Pack - 88% of staff very happy with the flexibility in the hours they work 33% of Flash Pack employees were promoted in 2023. 59% were female and 28% BAME. PROMOTIONS: We review progression of 6 months. Last summer 33% of employees were promoted. Last week 32% of the team were promoted including: 67% Female (33% male) 39% from minority groups You mention toxic positivity but I believe you are confusing the genuine experience of most employees. The percentage of promotions and the wholehearted and authentic nature of reviews we have received here on Glassdoor would testify to this. Diversity and Inclusion: I fervently disagree with your comments on our DE&I Initiatives. We have worked tirelessly to ensure: - No gender and ethnicity pay gaps exist at Flash Pack due to our trailblazing transparent pay policy - We pay very generous sick leave allowance, make work-place adjustments for our employees who have declared a disability - We allow employees to work from abroad to accommodate personal life a number of employees with disabilities have been supported to promotion. There is always more to do and we acknowledge there are limits to how much support we can give especially when there is an issue of consistent underperformance. But our stats speak to how hard we have worked and dedication to creating an inclusive workplace for all. Of 78 staff across the globe: > 40% identify as BAME > 4% have declared a disability > 60% female workforce, 34% male and 2% other > 60% of the leadership team are female and 17% BAME We are very proud of the workplace culture we have created. I have never experienced such incredible support in any of my previous jobs. It's remarkable that Flash Pack is a fully remote company, yet they excel in fostering a sense of camaraderie and ensuring that everyone feels valued and supported. I genuinely admire and appreciate every individual at this organization, and I am eagerly anticipating many more years of working together.

Currently, I work for Flash Pack in London, but I am presently based in the USA. As a result, I face a challenge with limited opportunities for in-person communication with my colleagues. This is one of the few disadvantages of working remotely.
