The culture is such that people closest to the work & the problems are empowered to fix them. There is little that leadership doesn't share. They don't have all the answers, & that is okay.

Some people cannot handle the self-ownership that it takes to thrive here. If you need a manager to tell you what to do, this isn't the place for you.

The business model is simply wrong. 100% reliant on federal funding. Teams are encouraged to use the full budget allotted, even when work can be done with significantly fewer staff. New ideas are not tolerated in their legacy programs. Health insurance is bad. No 401K matching funds, no retirement incentives. S/W engineers complain about being given the option to work overtime (all staff are hourly)
