We’re sorry that your experience did not reflect the environment we aim to create. Building a culture where people feel respected, supported, and able to do their best work is a priority for us, and we recognise the importance of making this consistent across teams.
On the engineering side, we explicitly allocate ~20% of each team’s capacity to technical work, including reducing technical debt, and this is protected in planning. Teams can increase this allocation where needed, and some already do. In addition, we run cross-team migration initiatives to address systemic debt in a scalable way, aligned with our engineering strategy.
That said, prioritisation of technical debt and architectural decisions is an ongoing balance. We continue to evolve how teams surface, discuss, and drive these decisions to better support both immediate delivery and long-term quality.
