As a software engineer, I get the opportunity to go to different conferences and a have a separate budget for trainings/courses. I learn a lot from what I do day to day. The job is hard as every task has many unknowns. Sometimes it is not clear what the management expects from you. The trading environment is very high passed and this is reflected in all the processes. There are a lot of security concerns (I guess for good reasons) and this impacts a bit the software development process.
