Interns aren't offered any compensation or any kind of formal training whatsoever. I wouldn't even consider this an internship, because all you do is dial the phones and recite a scripted phone pitch to people who have no interest in buying stocks from a no-name brokerage firm. If you stick around and wind up working here full-time, you're required to bring in something like 30 clients before you can even start making a penny. Salary here is 100% commission based, and proves that the company doesn't invest in their employees, nor do they care about them at all. If you don't bring money into the company, you're of no value to the company. Most entry-mid level employees are treated horribly from management. 70-80% of people who I met during my time here didn't even attend college. This is a company where a college degree isn't necessary, which is definitely visible and recognizable in the office. Wheel and deal - employees don't care about their clients and will say anything to sell them whatever stock they're trying to push on a given day just to make commission. Since most employees didn't go to college, they don't know how to do proper financial analysis on any of the stocks that they push - so there's very little knowledge around the technical information regarding stocks. This office is 99% males and has a true old school Wall St culture, lots of degrading women.
