However, the loyalty that I felt to the company and to the brand was not returned. There is a distinct lack of employee development. When all is said and done, you are there to do a job. You are a cog in the wheel. I am leaving because of a lack of appreciation for me as a person and a lack of commitment to develop me as a person. Freeman is *not* a company genuinely committed to innovation. The company “innovates” solely as a response to immediate need. If it were not for the pandemic, the company would never have made the changes that they have. They are a company that hand holds its employees. They are more concerned about maintaining stability and avoiding disruption to the operation. Companies that innovate understand that they cannot hold hands and pamper their employees because doing so significantly hampers innovation and change. I have been so badly mistreated by employees with months of tenure that I have no desire to be affiliated with the company in any fashion. I thought that I would retire from it and was well on the way to it. I am fed up with the mistreatment, being underpaid and the lack of respect.

The pros were the per diem and the opportunity to travel. I really enjoyed visiting new cities and collaborating with kind, interesting people from across the country at different show sites. The pay was also very strong during busy seasons.

If you want to join a company where employees are undervalued, expected to obey rather than think critically, and favoritism is openly visible, then please avoid this company. The environment often felt heavily micromanaged at every level of leadership, with experiences of both covert and overt racism in the workplace. There was also a strong sense of competition and distrust among coworkers, where people would undermine one another for personal gain. Leadership and upper management appeared far more focused on optics and appearances than the actual well-being of the employees working on the show floor.
