Vantaggi

Some flexibility with schedules- was a family run company at one point. They are on the backbone of the local communications infrastructure for northern Colorado.

Svantaggi

Benefits are not just bad- maybe the worst in the city. NO 401k, worst insurance possible, lower than average vacation time. Cancelled Christmas party last year and gave everyone $100 instead. No bonuses, little possibility for promotions and raises. When new ownership took over all the soul of this company disappeared. Can't really consider it a local company anymore since it is now owed by east coast capital firm. They care less about the employees, encouraging the remaining management to fire employees for not meeting deadlines for projects with NO budgets. New ownership spent 20k on LED lighting- while ignoring failing hardware that is 15 years old. Upper level staff promotes promotes political ideals at odds with majority of employees. Racist comments and staff infighting frequently result in an "rich vs. poor" division of values.

Vantaggi

If you are willing to apply yourself you have unfettered access to systems, routers, switches, and all other devices related to operations of their data center. This provides an excellent opportunity to pad your resume. If you work in the NOC, they will typically be very flexible with scheduling and try to approve all PTO within reason.

Svantaggi

Wages are extremely poor compared to other NOCs, and engineering positions in Northern Colorado. No, retirement benefits. Silver tier Kaiser health insurance Towards the end of my employment they were creating ridiculous new policies (like you can no longer brand the company as "FRII" you have to say Front Range Internet - even though it's been FRII to everyone since 1995), they were requiring engineers to be on call 24/7/365 unless they notified their manager with threat of termination if you failed to answer your phone.
