I can only speak from personal experience, but there were substantial and significant differences between the job I accepted and the responsibilities assigned to me immediately upon joining. Instead of leading one team, it became two teams. In top of that, I was assigned primary and immediate responsibility for another initiative that was not disclosed within the job description and only briefly mentioned as an area in which I could have “some involvement” during one of the three job interviews.
