There are many negatives about this place. - Long hours. There are days when coworkers leave 1-3 hours past closing time. I call those days normal days. When you come in for the day, you would have to clock into the system and clock out when you leave. Why does it matter? Well that's because all your clocked hours are sent to management so they can dissect whether you leave early (end of business day). Many workers are scared to leave at 6 and basically languishing after hours just so they can say they stayed late and were being a good employee. - Inefficient management. There is relatively little leeway given for day to day duties. Tasks are given out but with no direction added. Google is often your best friend when trying to figure out what management wants. New projects are given with very little direction on how it should be done. Frequent status updates are also needed to be given to management. Micro-management to the extreme. Upper management will constantly berate and yell at managers - Low benefits. No PTO until half a year later. In other companies, when you leave a company, you can cash out on all your accrued PTO. Not here where all your PTO is "unlimited." As in you can take as many day offs you can take only if you're approved. You will definitely be questioned about your days off also. Sick days are all unpaid. In most start-ups, equity sharing is up front and known to all workers. Not here. You're told to work hard and eventually, you might become rewarded for your hard work. They offer a heavily subsidized gym membership and you can go to workout classes twice a week during work hours. Sounds great right? Problem is you will never have time to be able to go during the workday. - High turnover rate. I have seen people come in for one day, one week and one month just quit. People get fired and quit so often it's very hard to develop a continuity and morale. Often times you come in the day thinking "Is today the day I'm gone?" - Inconsistent application of rules. Many times, they want to preach an easy going atmosphere. That sounds like a good thing right? The problem is, it applies to management and their yes men. Because if it looks like you're having fun, you're obviously not doing your job.You're always constantly under watch, being told to not do things that are detrimental to the company and yet management breaks these rules day in and day out. Do as I say and not as I do comes to mind.
