When interviewing, I was told that the position was hourly 1099 work. However, it was relayed that sometimes weekend work would be required due to the nature of the position. However, they claimed that weekend work was technically unpaid because "it was already factored into the hourly rate." The tools they provided for the work we did were horrendous and nobody was willing to buy new stuff. We were told that if we wanted better tools, we'd have to provide our own. I guess they didn't know that if an employee supplies their own tools they no longer qualify to be 1099, but they still refused to give full-time positions. Overall, the environment was toxic, management was poor and bordering on abusive, and I would not recommend working there in any capacity.
