Unfortunately the good engineers are out-weighed by the bad, and there seem to be more managers than engineers. There is no career path for engineers - the only career path is into management, because that is how things get done at GE. If you want to sit at a desk looking at spreadsheets join this company - if you enjoy field engineering and want to stay away from the desk you will be treated like a grunt that is worthless. Always pushing you to take on more work with no salary reflection
