Svantaggi

There’s plenty of accurate feedback on what Research is like on Glassdoor (see the most “Helpful” rated comments), but if for some reason you do decide to take a job at GLG, do NOT join Research Operations. I have experienced more than one role at GLG, and can confidently say that being on Research Operations is the least optimal choice. Don’t get me wrong, GLG as a whole lies to you about your job/day-to-day and completely bait and switches bright-eyed bushy-tailed grads into taking “research roles”, but no role is worse than being an associate on ROps, especially Project Support or Member Solutions. They are incredibly high-volume, transactional, basic admin/customer service jobs, and not a thing more. In fact, management measures your professional worth by the number of emails you send and how many calls you take and schedule in a day. The turnover on those teams is rampant and for good reason. Like many other reviews accurately claim, GLG is full of awful management, and that includes on Research Operations. Middle management is completely unapproachable when issues arise, are wildly passive-aggressive, and are clique-y, micro-managers who can never accept or take responsibility for their faults. In general, be apprehensive of anyone who has never been in management outside of GLG.

We recognize that client service jobs can be demanding, and that in many of our roles, excellent client service is paramount to success. We hope you can put the challenges into perspective: we give employees a lot of responsibility quickly and help you build skills that will be valuable to you throughout your career. These skills include how to engage clients in a sophisticated way, how to help clients problem-solve, and how to manage your time well. We trust new associates on all of our teams with the core of our business, and we hope you use every opportunity to grow. That said, we are always looking for ways to make the job more engaging, from leveraging technology to reduce administrative burdens, to workload-balancing across teams and regions, to offering mobility opportunities. And we’re always open to new ideas. Please talk to your manager, or me, or anyone else on the HR team with specific feedback and ideas.

Amazing people - lots of reviews say that because it's true. You'll work with smart, genuine, hard working humans. Good benefits and perks. Interesting events and opportunities to learn. Overall, a good place to start your career!

Svantaggi

Very fast-paced environment which definitely isn't for everyone. Lots of necessary change.

Genuinely I don’t know where to start. I’ve submitted and deleted two reviews in the past 3 months alone. On the surface GLG seems like the place to be to learn from members and executives, but just give it a little bit of time and you’ll quickly see how obvious the cracks are. The culture here is so toxic, managers either do not know or don’t want to delegate project work so you’ll find yourself getting whiplash just trying to get information related to your job from your OWN BOSS. At the same time everyone you interact with is the epitome of “that’s not my job”. The executive leadership team is a mean girls club made up entirely of friends of friends who have their direct reports working well into the night to pull things together so that they look good. The “motivators” the executives use is truly bullying (like constantly pulling up your job description to purposefully make you look and feel small) any other organization would identify making your employees purposely feel stupid and shut down as straight bullying. It’s truly no surprise that you will regularly see employees crying in the hallways. I have never seen a leadership team this incompetent.
