Svantaggi
- Job posting was misleading and did not match the actual responsibilities. The role was advertised as basic laboratory support, organization, and equipment maintenance, but instead, I was doing engineering‑level Python scripting, SQL, and Large Language Model development that was never mentioned in my hire agreement. - Compensation was extremely low for the level of skill required. Despite holding a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree, the position paid $18/hr part‑time, which is comparable to grocery store clerk wages but involved software engineering‑level responsibilities. The annualized pay, around $18,700, was close to the federal poverty line, which is unacceptable given the work I performed and my educational background. - Significant misclassification of technical roles. Employees with advanced training were placed into low‑level job categories that did not reflect the actual work performed. - When two team members left, their workload was redistributed to me without any title change, pay adjustment, or recognition, further widening the gap between responsibilities and compensation. - Concerns about workload mismatch and job scope were not addressed by management or HR, even when clear evidence of misalignment was presented. - The pay was so low that I qualified for full financial assistance on medical bills, which speaks volumes about how the role was classified. - Due to the ongoing misalignment between responsibilities, compensation, and job classification, I ultimately chose to resign.
