I worked with some really great people who I consider my friends

I worked for a woman who was a micromanaging, favorite-playing, nightmare. She was the worst leader that anyone could ever hope to work for. If you didn’t make her shine, she would bury you with meaningless busy work and keep you there until you quit so she could find someone else to make her look good. She would either take credit for your work or pass the blame when something was not satisfactory to her would happen. For instance, she actually wrote in my evaluation that my negative attitude about the job (even though she buried me in glorified clerical work when I was meant to be a technical lead) and lack of respect for authority (only her) have begun to negatively impact the team. However, after speaking with my counterparts, the way that she ran our crew was the reason why morale was so low but she refused to listen on that. She would put new personnel that she hired in charge instead of people who had been on the team for a while but were not directly hired by her and therefore could not be vetted to see if they would make her look good. She also would go out of her way to make sure that you never got another position inside the company because she wanted you to quit since nothing was ever done that was a fireable offense. I wanted to get out from under her thumb and she went to the person that was going to make that happen and told him that she did not think I was a good fit for the job. She would set ridiculous presidencies like having your time card done at 6am even though they weren’t due until 10:00 and then count that against you on your annual evaluation or she would make you document 15 times that you did something because apparently people can’t click on a ticket and read what you wrote which wasted a ton of time. Not only were her antics bringing morale down for the leads, she also negatively impacted the supervisors and operations managers as well. Many stated that themselves.
