Vantaggi
Don't have to work very hard, deadlines are not really enforced. Product team misses committed product feature launch dates with regularity and just about every other department does too. Work life balance is solid since the company does not incentivize or pay enough to bring in true top performers unless you're in a very technical role. Hybrid work policy is decent and allows for flexibility. Benefits are good too. Middle management at the AVP and VP level is strong despite the challenges you can see they have with dealing with the C suite and board and they all genuinely care about us as their employees.
Svantaggi
Family owned company and they very much want to keep the bulk of the riches for themselves and operate the company in this way. They pay people just enough to keep the company moving. Every board meeting (mostly the family) results in new, reactive actions that everyone must immediately action and drop what else they're doing. The strategy seems to be to look at what the competitors are doing and then react to it. Compensation is just ok in terms of salary and limited upside to go above and beyond as bonuses are not on par with market. There are directors at companies in the industry with bonuses twice the amount of VPs at Geotab. CEO is pushing a very flat org structure of no more than 4 levels between him and entry level which severely limits growth opportunities especially for those that want to manage people.
