I was hired to convert their pipeline to the Unreal Engine. The amount of content we produce in a week is significantly higher than larger companies produce in a month. They go straight from shotlist to prototype and it works. The quality is as high as if we spent a month in preproduction.

Svantaggi

There's a shortage of advanced GPUs and a lot of the machines are a mishmash of technology that often melts when we run them overclocked at the speeds we're attempting.

This is great to hear - we are progressing out UnReal capabilities, and yes GPUs have been hard to acquire, but recently we acquired several more and will be building newer, bigger, better computers!

Emphasis on work life balance is a plus. Opportunity for some growth is neat. Learning new skill sets always makes working interesting/ dynamic. Their are some very nice people who work here.

Communication on issues could be improved. There were times issues would come up in the pipeline down the road that wasn't addressed by the leads. Some leads make stand ups/ daily meetings unpleasant due to rude behavior such as being super critical on employees work and calling them out in meetings. If you don't click in well with the work culture, you'll easily feel unwelcomed, left out. Management expects a lot from their employees, wearing too many hats on the job.
