While the projects can be unique, there are in fact, very few pros to a job at Glass-Media. Occasionally they will purchase snacks for the office per the teams request, sometimes lunch will be catered, and occasionally you can work remotely (but they don’t like that so be careful doing that too many times). Benefits are good, they pay 99% of them and provide unlimited PTO (be careful with this as well, had many coworkers get told they are “abusing PTO” after taking 2/3 days off with proper heads up.

Cons- you can be fired with NO warning. I had seen it happen to a few coworkers before and never dreamed it would be me, they had talked about having big plans for me in the future and one day decided to rip that away citing “lack of initiative” while not providing concrete proof. To work here, you must become comfortable lying to clients regularly about project status, how (and where) things are made. You’ll lose track of the lies and slip up, the large clients that work with Glass-Media will notice. Management says they welcome a collaborative environment and will crack down hard if there is “too much” socialization. In other words, if management catches you not at your desk and talking even more than 1 min, you can bet you’ll get a talking to. The company will claim they are big on self-starter energy and will micromanage you all day long. Management tested work from home Fridays, they said for a trial period of 4 weeks, that lasted 2 days as they said no one was being productive. In fact this was because they could not see everyone constantly, productivity by the whole team never dropped and actually increased as the team wanted to keep wfh Fridays. What feels like every month, there will be sweeping new changes that will last for only a few weeks. You will feel some financial instability here, there were times I was Zelled money for an out of town since the company cards no longer worked. Direct deposit stopped because they didn’t have enough in the payroll account to fund it, we received paper checks for months until a new round of funding closed. DO NOT give management feedback of any kind. Their ego is extremely fragile and that will fast track you to unemployment. A former coworker corrected a member of management on a simple mistake made by management, one week later she was fired citing “lack of initiative” the same as myself. They are an emotionally unstable group and will fire you over upsetting them.

Supportive colleagues, unique special projects, and still very much a start-up, despite being around for a decade (not sure if this is a pro, but for those looking for an unorganized start-up environment to experiment, this is it).

Unpredictable and volatile upper management. There is no leadership from upper management, so it is best not to seek mentors or leaders from this employer. The CEO has said "We hire slow and fire fast here" meaning you may and can be let go at any time, which they can do in TX based on at-will employment. Your employment can be terminated on the notion of not "being a self-starter" or "poor performance" at any time, despite having no defined KPIs and role clarity. Therefore, if you truly want to be overworked, underpaid, and not valued, then this place is it. Everyone here is extremely underpaid, project managers and those with tenure with the company make less than 100K here (mind you, this is a tech company). This company uses the pretense of being a start-up to justify its unorganization, chaos, and its bare-bones system (or the lack thereof). Upper management commits to unrealistic timelines and promises to clients that they cannot deliver on, while pressuring and micromanaging their team. Moreover, this place lacks business ethics and is very comfortable with lying to clients.
