The pay was low and no overtime is given. The breaks are not given unless specifically asked for. The job is very demanding and requires you to manage a large amount of stock as well as customers which can be extremely overwhelming. The stock is also renewed every week making it difficult for people who get minimal shifts to perform as well as the other employees. The top of the shelves can also be quite high, which makes it hard to manage the clothes for people who are not very tall. You are required to hold many kilos worth of clothing and the staff are trained to hang the clothing on your arm (in order to manage the large amount they give you to put back at a time), which resulted in me being left with bruises along my arms on many occasions. Staff use a lot of slang words for specific clothing items which are unique to Glassons, and was specifically taught which resulted in some workers being irritated with me for not knowing what they were. Primary communication between employees is through handheld transceivers which can make communication extremely difficult for someone with a hearing disability, such as myself. There was often not enough or broken transceivers which would significantly effect communication. Extremely high-school student unfriendly since they require large amounts of availability even though minimal shifts are given.
