- high staff turnover - workplace bullying by management - upper management will not even address you when they come into the store unless you make an effort to say hello, to which they’ll only respond ‘hi babe’ (no effort to ask your name whatsoever) - HUGE on greenwashing (ie when regional/national managers come in, there is always a huge emphasis on pushing that items are recyclable and so great for the environment, when they all come individually wrapped in plastic…) - rosters are unpredictable - managers cut shifts, and then expect you to be available on the day to come in on an hours notice because THEY cut your shift because they thought it would be quiet, but now it’s busy - if you have an N/A day as a casual or call in sick, you get treated poorly and probably will get rostered on anyway - when staff members had covid and were close contacts, they kept the store open knowing people had covid and expected everyone else to work knowing they were close contacts - managers will only roster you on if they like you (casual workers) - group chats are extremely rude, managers typing in all caps -received absolutely no training on the electronic POS, or anything else for that matter - in our contracts, we are entitled to 10 minute breaks after 4 hours on the floor. Not once have I ever had a 10 minute break. Recently we have to achieve personal ‘goals’ (eg upselling X items) in order to be entitled to a 10 minute break… - WICs are usually very friendly and understanding, but have no say over the SM or ASM - the store doesn’t stock over size 14, or size L. Makes things extremely uncomfortable for floor staff considering the average size of women in Australia is 12-14, and we can’t even cater to them. Considering this is an extremely successful and profitable company I don’t think it would hurt to stock up to size 18 at LEAST, even if it’s just online? - Management is more worried about bag checking STAFF instead of customers - Visual Merchandisers will try and get floor staff to do their job and help them when they are already being yelled at by store managers - needs to be some more communication between Visual Mercandiser and SM, or have a dedicated assistant for the VMs
