Vantaggi
- Remote work and work-life balance
- Salary was good for an internship
Svantaggi
- The company is owned by a family and the family members are at the leading positions, so there is nothing actually democratic in the company. HR is just for talent acquisition and does not solve any other purpose.
- Did not give an option on joining date, HR just asked to join the next day of the interview (remote role). I think this speaks something about the culture.
- There was no real training for the job and without that it was just assumed that an intern would deliver like a tenured full-time employee (unrealistic expectations, and more importantly no proper training)
- Communication of leaders is not very respectful. I have seen many times with many other employees there is a vilification/blaming tone from the leaders, that too in group forums. In phone calls or 1:1 communication, this is common.
- Many senior employees are shouted at by leaders in front of the whole team for some small mistakes.
- One of the family members (leads a different team) once called me up on phone and shouted for a very petty thing. I don't think that was cool.
In summary, I found the leadership behaviour toxic in many ways. And because it is a family business, there is no usual employee-HR-manager-leader dynamic.
Though it was remote and provided somewhat of a work-life balance, I did not see it as my long-term workplace after my internship.
