I loved what the company does, the staff were great and I adored the kids I was mentoring. The town along with the property we stayed at were also lovely.

There were so many screw-ups, I couldn't believe there weren't more lawsuits by parents and even myself. I felt practically airdropped there with hardly any help besides supposed colleagues who were either MIA or so terrible (not screened properly and previous red-flags were ignored) that they got fired. It was unsafe for the kids and myself. I can't imagine how many of our labor laws were broken. While previous experience and strengths made me able to pick up the reigns, one of the many concerns I had was the lack of judgment of putting someone with no direct experience (me) in their most challenging country. Also the company having so little knowledge of the place and property in regard to safety and physical ability in order to screen the kids and those of us working the program beforehand. Much of the program wasn’t even set up when we got there which left us underprepared and dropped it in our hands to figure it out. Besides not providing the services that had been paid for, time-management was set up poorly in regard to how long we had at stops and many other issues. There’s a long list. They took accountability in word for dropping the ball in regard to the situation I was put in and not being able to believe I didn't bolt (I wasn't about to leave those kids in India without a solid figure of leadership and safety) but gave excuses when I asked if they were going to give me a bonus of any sort for taking on such a larger roll as opposed to the lowest-paying one I had been hired for. Basically seeing it as a paid internship, I wasn't in it for the money. I was just hoping they would make some kind of effort to do right by me so I could justify continuing to work with them. Nope. Just deflection and excuses. I really hope they've got it together now. I couldn't imagine working with them unless I had a more first-hand role in setting up the programs beforehand. Bummed out but best wishes.
