TALK CANDIDLY TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES BEFORE ACCEPTING A JOB HERE. CEO has not changed since my time with the company, but perhaps they've seen the light and made improvements since my time there. TRUE IN 2010: Unchecked sexual harassment, "good old boys club" (all-male, closed-door meetings were held in which physical characteristics of female employees were very inappropriately discussed), HR had no authority, upper management (including CEO) would scream and curse at staff during meetings, incredibly high turnover rate, employees would fall asleep or watch TV for hours at their desks

I totally respect your review and thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. I have written and re-written a response to your review so many times it started to sound like a template...which is not fair as you have provided your honest opinion and we, as an organization, should respond in kind. I have always been VERY honest and transparent with my team...we aren't a hugs at the end of the day kind of office. I am also brutally honest with interviewees. I tell them all of the challenges -- yes, there is stress...yes, we curse....scratch that as I am being honest here...I curse...a lot. But it is never in malice or meant to demean, degrade or hurt people. I just kinda curse like a truck driver in the privacy of our offices. (But yes, I should stop!) There is a lot of work and really insanely high expectations for quality output. I really hope that I preform at a standard where I don't expect or ask anything of my team that I am not willing to do myself. I am also willing to admit my own shortcomings as a member of the leadership team in that I am not as available as I would like to be to truly help team members to learn, flourish and grow in their roles. You do get thrown into the deep end...and as much as I aspire to change that, I admit I struggle. So how are things in 2014...our teams ROCK...seriously. The team I specifically oversee, specifically our marketing, web and creative teams are just some of the most incredible people out there. Now, will I be able to keep them all for years and years...sadly no. They will all go on to bigger and amazing things. Have we had people who have let because the role, the company, or (again, being honest) I was not a fit to what they wanted...yes. And I hope that we have not only learned to be a better organization, but also to do a better job being honest in the interview process so that people come to our group with eyes wide open. I also think our CEO has changed. I am not going to lie on this forum and say that he has not had a history of being "intense" and earned a reputation of being hard or even harsh with people he believe are under-performing. There truly has been a shift...and now, folks like myself are empowered to run effective teams. And I really hope that is the path we continue on. I am thrilled that you have now moved into exciting leadership roles -- and while I am sorry that the only learnings you took from your time at GlobalFluency was how not to lead, I hope that your current path is one that is supremely fulfilling and rewarding. There have been a lot of changes within the company in the last year and a half to two years. The changes directly addressed previous complaints, making the current work environment extremely conducive to learning and growth. The senior director & VP level employees are easy to talk to and genuinely care for new ideas. They encourage projects that push for efficiency and automation, allowing the company to scale with available technology. Taking initiative is encouraged and guidance is amply available. The current sales and marketing execs make the company what it truly is- a supportive and motivating environment.

-The people/hr/office management structure needs some more work. The current processes have potential but they need some updates- a few dedicated resources could make things like payroll, benefits, etc much easier to navigate. -The benefits aren't the best but that's the case with most small to mid-sized Bay Area companies. It's more of a problem that has to do with cost-of-living rather than with company.
