Schedule flexibility and relaxed management

Pay is good but no increase for experience

The starting pay for EMT is as much or more than some paramedics jobs in many parts of the USA($17 as of Sept. 2022) The work can be laid back mattering on the day, or slammed. You kind of have a set and more structured daily schedule. They are VERY flexible. One of the bosses is EVOC certified and teaches EVOC for free for his workers. Very helpful when it comes to schedule changes and equipment concerns or needs.

Dealing with hospital bureaucracy when trying to transport a patient can be a pain. Days can go from being slow to being hectic due to a sudden jump in transport needs. Ofcourse having to go to nursing homes, personally, is heart breaking due to seeing so many elderly that have been left there by family… Most patients are elderly, so it’s heartbreaking to see some almost helpless….
