Where to start? Firstly, GC frames itself as an ally to small businesses, diversity, and inclusion. It is none of those. The recent layoffs that have hit the dedicated UK support team the most are a testament to this. GC has turned its back on the little people. The support team is one I was proud to be a part of. Award-winning and category leaders. This is now taken away from us all and our livelihoods during the worst economic downturn since 2008. It is disgusting to see a company make so much money and betray its people like this. I genuinely used to think GC was different from other startups and did care. How wrong I was. I want to say a special thank you to senior leadership. Thank you for the words and memories which are now tainted with your actions.

Hi there, I’m Pat and I’m the Chief Customer Officer at GoCardless. Firstly, thank you for sharing your feedback - it’s really important for us to understand how our team is feeling. I wanted to provide some context on the changes we’re making to transform key aspects of our business operations, which is part of our ongoing strategy to increase efficiencies across the organisation to work towards profitability. Following our acquisition of Nordigen last year, we are increasing investment in our new Riga office to expand our operations in the region. As part of this restructure, as you’ve mentioned, we are proposing to relocate some roles to our Riga office. We understand that these changes will adversely affect some of our UK based employees and we have tried to give as much notice as possible of this change, so that our teams can make the right choice for themselves and their careers. We will be taking steps to support individuals through this transition, including redundancy packages and outplacement support for those of our team who may be leaving GoCardless. Everyone is really kind and helpful. People stay for the company culture.

Absolutely no upward mobility. No promotions or raises. The company is in a tough spot financially. It's very sellable but customer retention and growth is a major problem and no one has the answers to solve for it.
