I worked with this company for over five years. I started on the phones and eventually moved into the training department. Unfortunately, the leadership in that department was extremely poor. The director consistently played favorites, giving real projects, opportunities, and recognition only to a select few while assigning meaningless tasks to the rest of the team.
Performance reports were often manipulated to make certain trainers appear more successful, and even after layoffs, those same favorites received promotions and raises they did not earn. The director allowed his preferred employees to take credit for work they didn’t do and tolerated unprofessional behavior as long as it benefited him.
Those who weren’t part of his inner circle were micromanaged, criticized, and excluded from key discussions or recognition. It created a toxic and demoralizing environment where many employees felt invisible and undervalued. To make matters worse, his own manager enabled this behavior rather than addressing it, which only amplified the dysfunction.
