This list of Cons is mind-blowing. First, let’s start with the "upper management" (really only one person and t(her)ir three minions) Read flag #1.This individual has been in this role for over a decade and has all the control with little to no outside input on ALL decisions that are made for the organization. Any decision made had to be fine combed and 99.9% of the time shot down in the most diminishing manner possible (publicly or privately). Red flag #2 "their way or the highway" will be a common theme if you are crazy enough to want to work there. I was with the organization for over a year and within my first four months two individuals were fired and three quit. The turnover there was unlike anything I have ever experienced in my 11 years of being in the workforce. Red flag #3! Another common theme I saw was being over worked and HIGHLY underpaid. at one point, I worked three jobs with one title and less than 5% raise (after begging for some compensation for all the extra work). I always felt unconformable talking to my supervisor about leaving early if I worked overtime (which was frequent due to the three roles issue). The other issue I had was never feeling appreciated for the multiple roles I juggled daily. at about the seven-month mark of employment I really started to panic due to all the above along with the lack of internal growth or promotion the I desired. I expressed this to "leadership" and was not only turned down but told this was not something that was possible (even though they not only created new roles for others and they did have it in the budget since we were under staffed by seven people). Let’s talk boomer environment, (Red flag# 4?) ZERO flexibility, you work a 9-hour day with an hour lunch break and that’s final. If you want to take off early, PTO. If you are under the weather PTO. Also, you only get 15hrs in the first year of employment (sick leave, personal days. And PTO are all lumped together in the “PTO”) this leads into the next adjacent topic. ZERO transparency, none of this was made clear until after the first day of employment. Also, unlike many organizations, the health benefits do not start until the three-month period of employment. Although, the health benefits are the only Pro. The waiting period to be enrolled can be stressful and would probably not exist if the turnover wasn’t so high. Let’s talk people, other than the (top four senior most) Leadership the people the organization hired while I was there, were amazing TOO AMAZING! The environment was like constantly walking on eggshells. If you wanted to contribute to the staff meetings it was run but the leadership and no one felt comfortable to talk in fear of being humiliated. The organization has an amazing mission and the initiatives are great. However, those do not reflect inwardly at all. In Summary, my toolbelt is full. I would do almost anything for my coworkers that I had a relationship with and if you don’t want to sell your soul. Don’t apply! The money isn’t worth it trust me!
