Working as a contractor at Gymshark was one of the most degrading and traumatic experiences of my professional life. The public image of inclusivity, empowerment, and innovation is a complete facade; behind the scenes, the environment is toxic, cliquey, and hostile, especially if you’re not part of their carefully curated inner circle. From day one, I faced open bullying and manipulation by management. I was gaslit, undermined, and excluded repeatedly, often set up to fail by those who were supposed to support me. They’d pretend to be collaborative and friendly to your face, then twist your words, shift blame, and spread misinformation behind your back. The level of sneaky, deceitful behavior was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced, a disturbing combination of fake smiles and backstabbing. The sexism in the workplace was undeniable. Women were routinely dismissed, overlooked, and treated as inferior. Men dominated meetings, took credit for our work, and made inappropriate comments with zero accountability. When I raised concerns, they were brushed off or met with thinly veiled hostility, and HR, if you can even call it that, was complicit in maintaining the status quo. Contractors are treated like disposable tools. You're constantly reminded that you’re "lucky to be there," while being denied access, recognition, or even basic respect. They preach “community” and “family,” but if you’re not a permanent employee or don’t fit their polished image, you’re nothing to them. I left emotionally exhausted, disrespected, and disgusted. No one should have to put up with the kind of psychological abuse and discriminatory treatment I experienced at Gymshark. It’s a company obsessed with its brand and blind to the damage it's causing behind the curtain. To anyone thinking of joining,especially as a contractor or a woman, think twice. The culture is broken, and the harm it does is very real
