- Lack of guidance for new starters to help them understand the subject matter and adapt to the company environment, Don't expect to be taken by the hand. - People travel a lot and/or work from home a lot so the Amsterdam office often feels empty,

Poor higher management quality. More in general, the company is choked by its governance, which leaves little room for meaningful changes.

Travel travel travel. Only been here a year so only a few trips so far but if you can influence the right managers you can go off travel where and when you want with no question of reason or purpose of it. Salaries are high. Plus if are there for years you will be on a lot of money as salaries aren't based on performance.

Feel it could be career limiting. Company is supported by EU funding and needs other revenue streams. Due to this it has no strategy, vision, identity of its own. There are no appraisals/reviews, no code reviews, no stand ups, no team meetings, no 1:1, no objectives, no career conversations. You just go in the direction you hope is right and make sure people don't notice you. If you question anything you will feel and see the consequences. A lot of people just disappear out of the organisation without a mention - scary and odd. Bullying is common place especially by the long standing staff so don't question them at all. HR are aware if it but choose to ignore it. If you put in a complaint it will be ignored and your life made hell. Plenty of people hiding at home never come into office and never do any work. Lots of work shy people generally who could never get another job elsewhere.
