Vantaggi
good package (when HR doesn’t do the Asia low ball then, “you aren’t allowed to tell anyone” - but then puts it on the people management system), nice working locations, staff canteens, good infrastructure.
Svantaggi
Complicated political environment, can take upwards of 2 years to do even simple things (How Simple Becomes Complicated - it’s real) a whole lot of nepotism and particularly strong “Power Women” presence. All for equality, but take a look at the senior ranks org chart, there’s nothing remotely equal - chasing outcomes over opportunity contributes hugely to the complicated interplay. KCIs are tight, but goal posts are constantly changing so trying to hit them is like skinning a live eel. Bonus calculations are sold as “transparent” but then they hide the formulas and mandate a spread across resources even in small teams - so even if your team does really well, someone has to get the short straw. Cyber controls are insane, makes using any functionality of the systems redundant - if other FI’s or CI companies can do it, HSBC Cyber has no excuse. Speaking of systems, multiple platforms that duplicate bits of each other yet none of them talk to each other, and quite obviously pushed through for certain reasons, even if they don’t make sense.
