- Niche area of retail, handbag restorations, exciting to see bags come back restored and see customer satisfaction - Learn a lot of skills whilst on the job across multiple areas of the business - Come across a lot of unique/vintage pieces

- Owners forget to separate professional and personal; you get absorbed and dragged into situations you should not - Manipulative environment. Promotes exclusive culture not inclusive with staff members - Pay is really low hourly rate for the kind of business it is, but this is because handbag restorations have high overhead costs with materials, labour, delivery etc and they cannot afford to pay salaries in line with cost of living - No real long term career progression. Maybe a few years maximum from junior to senior or ecex level but no major additional responsiblities. -Still la small business and due to it being a niche market the gap is not big enough to grow more than a small franchise

Other employees were easy to get along with. Anyone who was ‘above you’ made it obvious that was the case.

It was impossible to not feel pulled into the excitement of working with gorgeous bags every day. It was also very fast-paced and at times stressful - no, this isn't inherently a good thing, but if you thrive off a challenge and enjoy pushing yourself it was a very good place to be. I moved up quickly in the company, and despite previous reviews mentioning gossip, I never really got involved in any of that and don't feel I was ever penalised for it. Yes, it probably happens, but like most fashion jobs it's attracts young women which can sadly breed that sort of drama at times. Good support from management, felt like how I behaved was met with respect. I made mistakes and owned up to it, and that was always taken well and probably helped with my growth within the company.

It's a small (growing) business, and that comes with a necessity to get your hands dirty and be down for anything, so there was times you were expected to do things that might not be explicitly in your remit. I don't think that's necessarily a terrible thing, and during my experience for the most part gave a team-spirit vibe which I enjoyed. It mostly felt like we were in it together, and got the job done by all chipping in. I never had an issue handling the phones and complaints (prior experience), but felt newer staff could have benefited from longer term training as it did seem to make newer/less experienced staff quite anxious. This may have changed since my time there though, as there was talks of such.
