Decent paycheck if the Director of Operations isn't threatening you that she won't approve your timesheet because you didn't do something the way she wanted.

Throughout my career in education, I have never felt as uneasy around organizational leaders as I do in my current workplace. During meetings, these so-called "leaders" often belittle and intimidate staff members. They have no sense of direction or formality. The staff looks more put together than the organization leaders. (How do you show up to a student concert in sweatpants?) We work hard to give the children in our program a wonderful time but at some point, it feels almost fake because we are rushed, pressured, and harassed by its director and her sidekick. Who instead of providing constructive criticism used their time to just call out the staff on their errors. If it weren’t for my immediate teammates, families, and students in this program I would have quit a long time ago. The amount of arrogance some of the higher-ups have is ridiculous. Ten years in “the game” and you can’t appreciate the great, hardworking staff you have on deck... From MY ten years in the education field, I have learned to humble myself and hear out even the new people because those are the ones that are most excited and can have great, fresh ideas. If you ever had a spark at programming, you probably lost it because the only time I ever saw higher-ups excited was when we had a new multi-million-dollar donation. Unfortunately, those ten years never prepared me for the directors that run this program. The amount of work being piled off on us because of their shortcomings was for lack of better words: sad. There are frequent firings of personnel which only leave the remainder of staff anxious about whether they are next. They don’t seem to value the good stuff they have left. They just keep on working them until they are burnt out or mess with them one way or another till, they leave. Their dream is to see staff compliant. Once you do the other, they will find any opportunity to let you go. Staff burnout is guaranteed within the year of working here! There is no formal training for new personnel. You must figure out your job description because the higher-ups don’t even know what your job entails. Students are also just numbers. Recruitment is pushed constantly. It's quantity over quality. Lastly, this is not a program for neurodivergent learners. Although we have had a few applicants, little to nothing is done to help welcome and support them. This is such a nice concept of a program; it’s just embarrassing and disappointing to see such arrogant and small-minded people running it.
