Vantaggi
Working at HealthVerity has strengthened my ability to sift through meaningless noise and unnecessary urgency in a professional environment that celebrates overwork and individual success above empathy and logical decision-making.
Svantaggi
Leadership increases expectations without adequately compensating them. Moreover, leadership repeatedly resists conversations about compensation and culture. e.g., Leadership changed my role from individual contributor to Product Owner with no title or compensation change. My colleague and I made a case for a raise and it was granted 4 months AFTER the role change: 8% raise. Inflation from 2021-22 was 8.5%, so my salary in real dollars has gone DOWN over time as a HealthVerity employee. I'm ineligible for the 3% COLA for 2023 because I got a "raise" last year. I feel disrespected. Moreover, I am the lowest paid member on my team – yet I lead it. Make it make sense. I feel insulted. A new CDO joined, and he invited us to connect with him. I tried to take him up on this offer, but: - he cancelled my 1-on-1 - he ignored my follow-up invitation to reschedule - he rescinded an offer to take my team to lunch - he posed a question in a "Data Community" Slack channel and he ignored my question there - he told me my question during a teamwide Zoom call was "not appropriate for the forum"; (he had just announced a huge organizational change, and I asked what plans he had for developing strong working ties with the new leaders who are being absorbed into our team – I can't think of a better forum.) I feel ignored. [NOTE: At least a dozen colleagues reached out to thank me for constantly asking the "important questions." Why do colleagues feel more comfortable sharing concerns with me than with their own leadership?] I shared this experience with the leader of HR and she told me that my team complains too much. I shared this experience with a VP on my team and he told me that I should expect less from a CDO. I feel silenced.
